This is a good point. Why is the term being used?

Techcom and Techcomm are both used as website names, the former for technical communications and the later for technology commercialization and manufacturing. Both Techcom and Techcomm appear in many corporate names, while the single m is used by technical communication companies and the double m seems favored by manufacturing and telecom companies.
