PureText (http://stevemiller.net/puretext/) is faster than going through Notepad. Free, easy, and works with *all* Windows applications.

Ummm, usually when I copy and paste from one tool to another, I use NotePad in between so as to remove any funky code that might be inserted from one document to another behind the scenes. Maybe this would take too much time, but you might try doing that.

I have an 85pp DOCX file in a 32-bit version of Word 2013 running on a Win7 Enterprise box. I have 3GB RAM, it's an Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 -at- 2 -dot- 40 GHz, and there is 247GB freespace on C:.

There are not a bunch of graphics in the file and I'm editing it on my local drive (not across the network). There are not a bunch of orphaned temporary files in the working folder, nor anywhere else on the local drive.

The current problem is that Word has become v....e.....r.....y u....n.....r.....e....s.....p.....o....n.....s.....i....v.....e. As I'm attempted to paste in copied bits from Publisher 2013, Word is frequently showing a [Not Responding] message in its title and saving a recovery file prior to deciding, "Hey, it's OK" and letting me continue.

This is really holding up my progress and my supervisor is starting to wonder what's wrong with me. The IT guy is of little help.
