I am also using Acrobat Pro XI with OS X 10.9.4 (MacBook Pro 17" Late 2011, 16 GB RAM).

The Compare Documents feature works fine, depending on your needs. It highlights the changed text and attaches a Comment icon to it. When you hover over the change, you see something like this:

Compare: Replace
[Old text]: "100 g"
[New text]: "200 g"
