There's nothing to detect the position of your finger unless you're touching the screen and if your finger is touching the screen when you stop on a link it'll actuate the link. Rollovers (as far as I understand the term) are hover-sensitive. When the mouse cursor is paused over them, something happens. Like tooltips or info text on some web page forms.

Mike

It already is a touch screen.

Why no rollover displays on a touch screen? There are links.

Thanks,

Steve

Don't know how to accomplish what you're after but what are the odds that the device interface could be moved to a touch screen in the future. Ain't no rollover displays with a touch screen (one reason I really am not thrilled with touch screens... I've come to rely quite a bit on tooltips popping up and link destinations being displayed in the status bar on hover).

I believe that's a yes, we control the OS and browser. It's a medical device and I believe the computer is included. Software upgrades provided to customers could include an upgrade to the OS, browser, and rollover plugin as necessary, I'm guessing. (Probably even the computer hardware if it comes down to that.) I believe that's a common model for these types of things.

There are reasons a link rollover preview might *not* be desirable in this context. But I still want to explore it.

Steve

The plugins are browser-specific and can always become incompatible due to a browser upgrade. In some large organizations they won't let you install them.

Or is this some kind of hardware appliance where your company controls the OS and browser?

Cool.

Is there a way to incorporate such a plugin into a Flare project? Or
would users have to be responsible for installing the plugin at their
end? (Especially given the variety of browsers -- the plugins seem
to be browser-specific.)

Also, would there be a way to incorporate something like this into
instrument onboard webhelp? (I believe it's HTML5 webhelp onboard
the instrument in the instrument's browser -- not sure what browser
so I'd need to check that. Might just be IE. Maybe I could check
with the development team about this too.)

Thanks,

Steve

I believe the overhead for that using normal rollover code would be huge. Flare would have to include all the preview text and formatting in the link code.

There are browser plugins that will do that for any URL. Google
