Hear, hear!

I belonged to the PHX chapter in the '90s. There was plenty of tech
business in the valley back then (I don't know about now) and it seemed
like the thing to do. I quickly became thoroughly disenchanted, however, as
the presentations were boring and it didn't seem like I was going to derive
any real benefit from networking with those folks.

I was very excited the night Intel's Andy Grove came to speak. When he had
his minders wheel in a cart with an old school overhead projector and
markers, I was shocked. The guy wasn't even eating his own dogfood! (And
that was after being served the requisite rubber chicken.)

I get much more benefit from this and a few other forums, along with
LinkedIn and two online professional organizations where I can find virtual
gigs. Networking online is of far more value!
