If you are following the US Women's Soccer team currently playing in the
Women's World Cup tournament, you might be interested in this bit of trivia
about the coach, Jill Ellis. I came across this tidbit while reading her
bio on Wikipedia:

Ellis earned a Bachelors of Arts
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachelors_of_Arts> degree in English
Literature and Composition at the College of William and Mary
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_of_William_and_Mary> in 1988, and
earned a master's degree in technical writing at North Carolina State
University <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_State_University>.
[5] <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jill_Ellis#cite_note-WaPo-5> Her mother
Margaret "was horrified", on learning of her plan to give up her lucrative
job as a technical writer at Northern Telecom
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Telecom> to work as an assistant
coach with subsistence pay,[15]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jill_Ellis#cite_note-mh_20140904-22> while
her father John advised her to "do something substantial" instead.[5]

Nice to know if the soccer thing doesn't work out, she can always go back
to tech writing ;-)
