The only problem I see with this scenario is the rate. No way is there a Monolith that is going to pay a writer $100 an hour. And if Writer A and B are really able to command that rate, they'd probably be incorporated, self-insured and bidding direct on the job instead of going through temp agencies.

At *$35* an hour I could see this happening, but I don't think I know any writers in California who would work temp for 80 hours a week without OT or benefits at that rate.

I'm not sure I set this up right.

Let's try a scenario, and tell me what you think. This is my understanding of how this law works.

Let's say Writer A and Writer B are both contractors looking for work. Writer A lives in LA, B in Boston.

Monolith Company has branches in both cities, and is looking for contract writers to work on a big project.
