OTF v TTF v embedding v MS Office

Hi,

With regards to an anticipated $2k font purchase, is it still true that
Open Type Fonts (OTF) cannot be embedded in Microsoft Office 2013
(including Word and PowerPoint) and that TTFs are required?

Even though the font cannot be embedded in Office, will the font be passed
along for embedding in PDF created with Adobe Acrobat?

Thoughts?
