Well, yeah. But if you move to this area you'll be living in one of
the least pleasant big cities in the country. There's nothing here
that you'll enjoy spending your money on, so you might as well
spend it all on rent.

You can get by on $100K if you don't have kids, although if you want
to live less than 20 minutes from any company that pays its tech
writers $100K/year, you won't be buying new cars, eating out much
(no great loss in the South Bay anyway), or maxing out your 401K.
