TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I find that getting "dressed up" from my usual jeans and t-shirt outfit puts me in the right frame of mind as well. Puts my game face on.
In my other life I play pipes. Now the music does not change whether I wear the uniform or not but when I put it on I know I project a different image and gain some authority. Same with interviews - you want to project an image of professional confidence and experience. But then I am speaking from the perspective of a 60 year old fart from the UK with a military background :) Pretty small demographic!
