Hello, Tech-WR-Lers,

Iâm returning to a long-ago project that I did in FrameMaker 9 (installed as part of the Tech Comm Suite 2). Iâve got all the .book/.fm files, TimeSavers is integrated already, etc. So theoretically I could just pick up where I left off, with my tools and files.

But Iâm wondering if there would be any appreciable benefits to upgrading my FrameMaker installation?

Iâm not sure if I can even upgrade to a âperpetual licenseâ given how old this isâthe Adobe site is very confusing about what qualifies for upgrade pricing, and it seems that itâs really tricky to get a perpetual (non-subscription) license. Iâm reasonably certain that I cannot get a non-subscription license for the whole Tech Comm Suite, but at this point Iâm sure I donât need it. I donât use RoboHelp or Captivate. And Acrobat Pro is part of the Creative Suite, which I will likely be upgrading so that I can work with files that are created by people with newer versions of InDesign than I have (without me having to ask them to create the .imdb format).

Thoughts as to whether the newest version of FrameMaker offers any appreciable benefits over FrameMaker 9 would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
-Monique
