I have just replicated it in two ways:
1. Right clicked filename, selected Rename, and edited and saved the
new filename.
2. Clicked the cursor twice (slowly) within the filename in the book
file, edited the filename and saved it.
Both times, I got the heartening message that all my links were being
updated. In both cases, all the links broke when I regenerated the
file.
What version of FM are you using? I'm using FM 2015 (as part of Tech
Comm
Suite 2015 -- not sure if that makes any difference), and I just did
this in
order to create a new doc that's very similar to another doc. I renamed
the
.book file in Explorer, opened the newly-renamed book file, and within
FM
did the file rename (by right-clicking on a .fm file in the open .book
file). All references were properly updated, with no broken links
(xrefs and
ToC).
Maybe you're using some other procedure to do the renaming?
