Our product includes embedded help in the shape of question mark buttons next to on-screen elements, when clicked a pop-up displays with a brief explanation of the functionality and a link to more detail in the help system.
Our guidelines recommend the use of embedded help for MOOPPOP - Moments Of OPPortunity Or Pain - for the user. The UX guys identify these.
