For software-only products, I don't see why you'd need anything morethan release notes for a routine release.
ÂWhat about user docs?
The application note/technical note/case study/whatever is pre-salesstuff that nobody is going to be looking at after deployment...
Yes, and I'm working on these for the marcomm group, to help them out and because I have time. So this *is* a relevant discussion for me, even though I mostly work on post-sales docs.
