If your document is just going to be read, I can't think why a
spreadsheet would be any better.

If your colleague wants do more manipulation of data a spreadsheet
would make more sense. I assume your analysis includes tabular data,
not just words.

Analogy: If you wrote a memo that will not be edited, only read and
forwarded, PDF would probably be fine. If the colleague wanted to
extract bits and pieces of your memo to use in another document, DOCX
would be much better than PDF.
