A one-time, 40-hour job isn't temp work; it's a brief contract.
Temp work is paid by an agency that contracts with the employer. Typically, the agency charges the employer an extra fee if the employer hires the temp worker away from the agency before a specified time limit.

Speaking of temp work, do you know of any writers who would accept an assignment for only 40 hours at a time with no guarantee that there would be more hours in the pipeline?
