Attacking this stupid argument is not going to get you anywhere. It is not a
serious argument. It is a "go 'way kid, you bother me" argument.

You have to make them see the advantages of putting the docs on the Web.
Which means you have to show them the financial benefits of putting the docs
on the Web. I devote three pages of my book to making the case for docs on
the Web, but in addition to that I would suggest looking up the stuff that
Chris and Bernard have done on docs as a generator of sales leads. Sideshare
might be a good place to start.

Anyone within commuting distance of Kitchener/Waterloo might also want to
check out Lee Brooks presentation on Tech Comm in Sales and Marketing at the
Communitech Tech Comm Peer to Peer next Wednesday:
http://www.meetup.com/Technical-Communication-P2P/events/231287825/

And then there is the phenomena known as content marketing, the current
panacea for all marketing ailments. Guess what docs on the web is. Content
marketing!

In all of this, your best approach is likely to recruit allies to your side.
Get the VP of sales to walk into the PMs office and demand docs on the web
and they will be there so fast it will make your head spin.

Mark

Het Ant,

*I* don't think that ... I've told the POs that any competitor worth their
salt has it, just like we have access to theirs ... But alas, it's not
enough to convince them.
