TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
In that case, what's trending right now are interactive guided tours and embedded videos. And I presume that rather than just showing examples that *look* "wow", you want examples that actually work well in terms of user experience and functionality.
So you should probably start with the big industry players, like Google (try the Google Maps guided tour) and Facebook (Facebook allegedly has really well-designed smart guided tours.)

Hi Robert,
Actually, I will be teaching a course and it's supposed to have a section on "cutting-edge" trends in technical writing/comm. Ideally, the examples would things that make people go, "Wow!"
Thanks!
Dan
