Craig,

Aside from proofreading and third party review as if you were a prospective
employer, donât do the work for the applicant. Our resume writing skills
are different than the applicant and the industry. The best bet is to point
the friend to a professional employment counsellor (some governments
sponsor agencies) who understand the current resume styles and trends, then
books like Knock âem Dead and What Color Is Your Parachute for the current
year.

A resume doesnât stand alone, but is part of a larger marketing package
that consists of the applicantâs personal branding and interview style.
Then should the applicant get hired, the applicant must be able to back up
everything that was said in the resume.

I know it sounds harsh, but after helping people write resumes for 20
years, Iâve realized that the experience denies the applicant the
exploration required to produce a quality product that the applicant can
support.

-Tony
