A quick google will bring up all kinds of resume templates, plus the basic do's and don'ts.

Aside from following the golden rules of keeping it brief and using a clean, uncluttered format; making sure there are no mistakes; and gearing the content to the market and type of job that the person is trying for, keep in mind that its 2017 and the whole process has changed from the days of writing cover letters with the hope that something you say about what a great candidate you are will get you on the short list ... instead, you need to embed relevant keywords, in case the first sort of candidates is done by some kind of filtering tool. The resume should reference the person's Linked In page (and/or website), where the recruiter can get a better sense of WHO the applicant is, and access samples of their work (if relevant). Its not just about having the right qualifications and keeping your fingers crossed; its about marketing.

Hello whirlers,

An opportunity to help someone with their resume arose and I agreed. Any hints, tips, tricks, or suggestions you folks might have would be appreciated.
