Iâm surprised no one has mentioned the Yeti USB mic by Blue Designs. A very well-liked mic and available for US$99 despite $130 list price:
It has a headphone jack on the mic which eliminates the audio lag you sometimes get with USB recording; gain control; and pattern selector (cardioid, omnidirectional, etc). The Yeti does 44.1 KHz conversion and if you need up to 192 KHz and XLR output the Yeti comes on a Pro flavor for around $250.
