I grew up in SE Michigan, where both my stepfather and eldest brother were
Ford execs. I learned to drive on Woodward Avenue
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-1_(Michigan_highway)>, the first (and
longest) four-lane divided highway in the world. In other words, mine was a
total car culture growing up.

I've always changed a tire if it went flat. The only time I ever changed
wheels was when I wanted to mount some sporty-looking ones to replace the
plain-jane ones that came from the factory.
