I would like to challenge all of you to stop considering 30 days standard. That's for big businesses with lots of money to help them get through each month. I have always been able to negotiate anywhere from 7-15 days by saying that I'm a small business, and cannot afford to work on longer terms and that has always worked for me.

But what I've found is that most tech writers are uncomfortable talking about money so they won't have a money conversation and will just agree to get the job and the cost to you is that you struggle while you wait for the money to come in.

Just my .02 cents. ð

Lin

30 days after receipt of your invoice is pretty standard. If somebody wanted longer I'd try to negotiate them down to 30 before signing the contract.
