I looked into this last Spring and visited TechSmith's website. That's
where I got the news I reported earlier. But maybe things have changed
since then.

I'm specifically referring to the product's work files, not its eventual
output.

All in all, though, I'd much rather contend with rather intuitive Camtasia
than have to face a steep learning curve with another over-priced Adobe
product.
