Working with recruiters seems to be quite the minefield.

The stuff from recruiters is almost always suspect. If you manage to speak over the phone to a recruiter with whom you can have an actual conversation you may well find that the recruiter has no knowledge of the technical items other than the buzzwords. "Yes, we have need someone with deep understanding of Agile programming, C plus programming and Microsoft Word, three to five year experience."

However, if this really is a start-up, and not merely a shotgun recruiter's request for "please send us lots of CV" then perhaps their one overworked HR person might have cabbaged the phrases from the Vast Resources of the Internet and run them through the CTO.
