Hi John;

I've used a tablet to write notes on for a while and the tool that I have ended up using (for about nine years now) is OneNote. It offers the ability to convert my writing to text and some (though not a lot) of my diagrams. In the past, I have tried what would become Nebo and it was flaky. EverNote was also a no-go because of its dependence on the cloud *and* couldn't translate my writing to text, it only kept it as a picture.

I have since tried Nebo on the iPad Pro, and it works quite well. I haven't tried it on my Surface yet. The iPad version will convert hand-drawn flow charts into digital images, I haven't played with it that much.

My main reason for using OneNote is that almost all of my clients are Microsoft houses and I know that I can transfer my notes between my machine and their machines (because I am only supposed to use their machines for work). One thing I would recommend, don't use the OneNote from Office 365, it has a lot of functionality removed. I would use OneNote from Office 2016 or (not as desirable) Office 2019.

One other thing to note, capacitive touchscreens don't generally have the resolution to write or easily draw with. Having said that, you can get some snazzy styluses (Logitech has one, I think) that minimize that.

Take care.

Carter

Good afternoon, everyone...hope you are playing it safe.

Looking for a recommendation...

I have a Dell touch screen tablet running Windows 10.

I'd like to find an application that will allow me to draw and write on the
screen, then perform character recognition on the text and save the images
I draw to some kind of png, gif, or jpeg.

While price is no object, obviously, price will be a consideration.
What'cha guys using?
