If there is that great an age difference between the app and the help system, it may be the app was developed when Windows 7 was in use, and it may not be compatible with something that is made to run under Windows 10.

Hi Keith,

My gut is thinking to check the following:
1. Is the RH App published to a network drive? Published, not generated. You
need to publish to the network drive. You can view the generated help
locally while you're testing it initially but for it to work it has to get
published.
2. Where is the application looking for the published version? That would be
the next issue. It has to be directed to the opening topic for the published
help.
3. Then I'd start looking at operating systems and versioning, etc. (But I
think it is 1 or 2 or both.)

Note: Generating is about RoboHelp converting the content of your source
files to HTML code that can be interpreted by different browsers. Publishing
is about taking those output folders and files and putting them onto a
server.

I would start looking in the forums for more info if you need publishing
instructions. But you should be able to figure it out using RH online help
or the forums.

Good luck!

Hello,

I recently began using RoboHelp 2020. I've just generated a help system
using it. When I open up the generated output from a network drive,
everything looks exactly as I expect.

However, when the generated output is connected to an application and opened
from that application, there are numerous problems. For example, the panels
for Search and Contents do not display. Also, images randomly will not
display in topics. Instead, the filename of the image is displayed.

Has anyone ever encountered problems like these? It doesn't seem like a RH
problem really, as the output RH generates looks fine. It's like the
application has a problem displaying that output. (BTW, the application was
initially developed about 7 years ago. So we have an older application
trying to display output generated by the latest RH.)

Thanks for any comments!

Keith
