Hello Carla,

depending on the complexity of your terms and phrases and the overall amount of data to search through, there is a tool, albeit directed at enterprises rather that is specially developed for this kind of task.

I worked at the company until a couple of moths ago, and documented the tool so I know a bit about it.

You may want to check their website here:
https://www.poolparty.biz
https://www.poolparty.biz/why-poolparty-semantic-suite
https://www.poolparty.biz/semantic-search

You can get into touch with them to receive more details, esp. on project sizes and perhaps business sizes that you'd presume so it would make sense using the tool.

* -> Basically what you usually do with it is, create a (simple) taxonomy of the domain you are searching terms for. (Taxonomy is known? A little like a 'tree', can be digital or analogue and orders terms and phrases hierarchically.)
* Then search much more effectively.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards
Nina

Do you have some examples of blacklisted terms? I'm wondering what
sort of thing to look out for.

Thanks. tims

If you work for a Global company, you may be aware of China's Patent &
Advertising laws. There are certain terms that are blacklisted, and
violations can result in fines and even sanctions against companies.

Is anyone aware of a tool that would allow you to search multiple PDFs
and compare against a list of terms and flag instances?

We want to look at our published PDF files, hundreds of them, and some
of which are quite old, and see if we can find anything that is a
potential violation . Unfortunately, most of these files weren't
created in XML/CMS, but in Frame, InDesign, and even other apps, so
searching source files isn't the best option.
