I hate to sound like a wet blanket with all of this enthusiasm for
videotapes of STC meetings, but, as someone previously
mentioned on this list, videotapes of meetings work better in theory
than in reality:
o The video and audio quality both tend to be poor--so poor that
viewers tune out of the tapes
o The needs of visual learners are NOT met by these videos because
these videos have a static image--the talking head. Visual learners
tend to need dynamic images and visual representations of the subject
matter, neither of which is provided by unedited tapes of meetings with
no graphics added
o The ideal length of an A/V presentation is 12 minutes; these meetings
far exceed that limit
o The nuances of the "meeting culture" that many would like to see are
lost because the camera and mike miss most of it
