The quandry about titles would easily be fixed forever if a legitimate and
fully supported writer certification/licensing program were set up and im
implemented. As cracked-pot as this may sound and ignoring the STC's
absolute befuddlement about such a concept, certification in every other
conceivable professional field has specifically defined job titles, functions
and responsibilities.

I know, writers want to be free thinkers... but if technical writers or
writers otherwise want to ever be considered as professionals by non-writers]
some sort of guideline for establishing credibility is necessary.

And just think of it, certification not only immediately separates the wheat
from the chaff, but also legitimates our desire for higher wages, greater titl
titles, and all the other trappings of the "professional."

So, let's have it! Writer I, Writer II, and Writer III (Suprimo).
