TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Thanks to Ken, Brian, Bill, Steven, and others who responded to my request
for advice on software to use in the technical writing practicum at
George Mason University. I've decided to use the STC's pubs/art competition
database system as the pet package, mainly because I already know a
little about it, they're local, and we might be able to get an "expert
user" from the STC office to attend all or part of a class session so that
the students can get some inside information about how the system works.
Students can also interview the user as part of a mini audience analysis
exercise.
Thanks again.
