The Chicago Style Manual, 14th ed., section 5.10, addresses punctuations in
lists.
Omit periods after items unless one or more of the items are complete
sentences. If the list completes a sentence begun in an introductory element,
the final period is also omitted unless the items in the list are separated by
commas or semicolons.
e.g.,
The following metals were excluded from the regulation:
>mercury
>manganese
>magnesium
After careful investigation the committee was convinced that
>the lawyer had consulted no one before making the decision;
>the chairman had never spoken to the lawyer;
>the client was as surprised as anyone by what happened.
