I've had a lot of luck staying in bed & breakfasts during international STC
conferences. They are usually (not always) less expensive and you get to talk
to local people (sometimes too much, but that's ok).
There is a short list of B&Bs in the March 1994 Intercom (STC newsletter), plus
a number for general travel information: 800/657-3700.
