The research on MEMORY is FIVE, +/- 2.

Generally speaking, research shows you start to lose folks when the step
numbers go to double digits. There's also an issue regarding how many pages
the steps cover in the manual, so that looooonnnnggg steps may count as
multiple steps in the user's mind.
