I'll agree that we need some rules for our writing so the reader
has a reasonable chance of understanding what the writer had
in mind. But this is not a religious belief with me, so I accept
deviations. On the bulletin board above my monitor is a quote
from James Kilpatrick:

Writers must rely more on the feel of a sentence
than on the dictates of a rule book.

My sentiments exactly.
