Hi all:

I originally posted this to Beth directly, as she requested. Having since
seen several postings about this on the list, and in keeping with my stance
on the subject, I am forwarding my original post to the list, for the purposes
of discussion, and information/opinion exchange.

Hi:

My feeling on that is a "no": I look forward to the ad hoc responses that
people throw in, and in fact believe that the whole point in a group list is
that there is PUBLIC FORUM about a subject. If posts were automatically sent
only to the person inquiring, it no longer becomes a forum, and LOTS of
interesting information would not be available.

If people aren't interested in a subject, they can always DELETE without
reading it. I can't however decide that I am interested in a subject, and
read it in someone else's email. It's also unrealistic to expect everyone
who is interested in a thread to post to the person and request that they
be sent the information also. This creates unmanageable lists within lists,
and many people just won't take the trouble (or have the time--that's more
likely) to send posts all over the place to make sure everyone, but ONLY
those interested, receive the information.

I feel quite strongly about this, particularly since threads tend to diverge
into other threads, and are a source of creative brain storming...

No, please, no!
