I'm interested in SGML - or at least in being able to convert it to
plain ASCII text. One of the online forums I run on GEnie is the Tax
and Accounting RoundTable and we put IRS publications online in
Adobe Acrobat format and in plain text format. We get the text
publications (the taxpayer guides on various subjecs) in SGML format.
I developed a Macintosh WordPerfect macro that strips and converts
a lot of the formatting, but it leaves lots to be desired, and a lot of
reconstructing files manually :(. If anyone knows of any reasonably
priced program that will convert SGML to plain ASCII text on Macintosh,
or PC (DOS or Windows), I'd be very interested in knowing about it.
