Karla,

I work as a trainer in addition to my documentation and course development
duties. Our group has four (including me) people who function in this
dual role. We train faculty, staff and students in non-credit courses
on core applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
I'm also heavily involved in different E-Mail courses and UNIX basics.
I serve as the Internet resource person, and have developed four new
two-hour courses for presentation this fall -- Exploring the Internet,
and three Tools courses:ftp/telnet/search; gopher; and WWW.

Although I prefer the writing end of my job, I appreciate the training
time since it gives me a change to watch others use my written work. I
can learn what works -- and more importantly, what doesn't.
I'm also a firm believer that any technical writer is a trainer. It's
just some don't get see their trainees face-to-face.
