Coleen-

Even though the FrameMaker index contains hypertext links,
those links are still based on index markers created by the
writer or indexer, so the quality of the index is still
dependent on the indexer. The links are not created
automatically by Frame based on explicitly spelled-out
text.

I think Bob's only point (and forgive me if I'm wrong) is
that jumping from the online index to the referenced page
is much quicker via a hypertext link. The actual content of
the index would be same as in the printed version.
