you don't have to fool around with the cartridges (one color, one
black) until they run out.


That's the one drawback to that design. If you're using a lot of red, for
example, you waste the ink of the other colors. You can't replace just one color
of ink at a time. That (plus postscript and speed) is why the 1200C is a better
printer. Costs about 4x more, though, so judge what you want to buy by how much
you need the features. We have a 1200C here, but I get along fine with an old
500C at home.
