Uwe Reinke asked a research question about controlled language for
writing to be translated. A graduate stduent here worked on a project
like tkhat last year, and I may be able to find her paper and suggest
directions. Currently, a student is doing follow-up work on that same
project (I may have given her the other student's year-old paper). She
is interviewing some machine translation specialists here in Huntsville, AL
who are marketing a new PC product called Transcend. It "automatically"
translates to several European languages.

One tip: "simplified English" is the key word that gave my other studenkt
best research results. "Restricted English" doesn't work.

I will upload a news release on "Transcend" directlky to Uwe Reinke, unless
others also want it on this list.
