I think some individuals use a rather loose interpretation of what
constitutes advertising. If someone asks for information and you tell
them of a source--someone else's book, newsletter, or other--it is not
advertising. But if you happen to be the author or publisher of that
book, newsltter, or other, it is considered to be advertising by some
individuals, who then go to their vigilante mode.
