I agree with Bob Morrisette about Bill Horton's books. Another, more
generalized text is Jan V. White's Graphic Design for the Electronic
Age (Watson Buptill). Like Horton's books, White's book is a great
example of what the book is about.
Chapters on typography, page design, using graphics, and constructing
books should help.
