Bev isn't sure about the meaning of "dissin," but she knows she doesn't like
it.
The verb "to diss" means to show disrespect for, or (another nerb for you) to
disrespect. It come from African American slang. It's along the lines of "to
bad mouth."
My feeling is that the word has found its way into general American slang
(particularly among young people), but I don't have any data on it.
