1. Yes -- I read the front matter, including pub dates, other works by
author, typography & design info, etc., -- heck, I even read references!
2. Do you agree most people don't? Dunno.
2. Yes [caveat: such decisions are made by higher-ups] -- we use prefaces,
introductions, acknowledgments, <and> forewords in our documents because the
federal gov pads/protracts everything it touches. Right, Bev?
