Chicago Chapter of STC Announces Call for Papers

The Chicago chapter of the Society for Technical Communication is currently
accepting proposals for presentations on technical communication for the STC
Regional IV Conference to be held October 6-7, 1995 at the Allerton Hotel on
Chicago's Magnificent Mile. Speakers should prepare to speak for 40 minutes
and allow 10-15 minutes to answer questions from the audience.
The theme of this year's conference is "New Frontiers in Technical
Communication." Following a keynote presentation by William Horton, the
conference will explore a variety of subjects, including:
- writing, editing, indexing, abstracting
- design, layout, desktop publishing
- usability testing, learning styles, customer feedback
- SGML, ISO 9000, TQM
- integrating documentation with training or marketing
- managing projects and people
- translation, writing for the global marketplace
- online documentation, multimedia, the Internet
- resumes, interviewing, career development

Those interested should submit, by June 15, 1995, a one-page abstract of
their presentation, panel discussion, or proposed workshop and plans for any
group activities via mail or fax to:

Presenters will be notified of acceptance by June 30, 1995; they must
register for the conference by August 15, 1995. The conference registration
fee for STC members and presenters who register before August 15, 1995 is
$149. Presenters are invited to a Welcome Reception on Thursday evening,
October 5. They will also receive a copy of the Conference Proceedings, in
which the outline, handout, or summary of their presentation will appear.
