I've ran into similar problems. Find a copy of the shareware program
PaintShop Pro (currently at version 3.0). You can change individual
colours in the colour palette -- I've used it to change yellow to dark
green, for example.

It'll handle most standard graphics bitmap formats. You should be able
to find it on most major archive sites -- I think someone may have posted
the exact location here recently.
