My trusty ancient Webster's Collegiate lists 'incidence' as a noun, one of
whose meanings approximates 'occurrence.' This looks like an incidence in
which CJS will have to eat her words.

Says who?? "Incidences" is wrong. It is a mingling of "instances" and
"incidents" and it drives me nuts every time I hear it.
