I'm a freelance contractor in the market for a reasonably priced scanner
and software to produce camera-ready versions of technical papers for the
Society of Automotive Engineering journal--by the end of August. I intend
to use MSWord to generate the text and PageMaker to produce the final
products.
I need to digitize numerous B&W visuals to incorporate in the papers
which I will then laserprint. I anticipate working with color visuals in
the future, so a color scanner makes most sense. But what products have
worked best for you folks experienced in dtp?

I'm familiar with the Apple Color One Scanner (I'm a Mac user) which I've
used in conjunction with Ofoto, OmniPage, and Photoshop on campus. Now I
need my own equipment and software. I'd appreciate any information you'd
be willing to supply.

Please reply to me directly. Thanks.
