-> this buy a new computer? I got an upgrade once by launching an
-> application while my boss was in the room asking for some data
-> stored in a file created by that application; when he experienced
-> how long it took to open the file, he immediately approved my
-> upgrade.
I can verify that this works admirably well. If it runs out of memory
and crashes back to a blank screen just at the instant it recovers the
record the boss was asking for, so much the better <g> Do your very,
very best to keep a straight face when this happens. If you act like
nothing's wrong, they might take pity on you and get you the upgrade a
lot sooner than if you moan and whine about it.
-> 6. Wait for Windows 96. Rumor hath it that this beast won't run on
-> anything less than a Pentium anyway, so you'll have to upgrade! <grin
-> again, for the irony-impaired>
Win95 runs just fine on a 486/66 with 8 megs, even better with 16 megs.
We've even got some folks at work running it on 486/33s, and the latest
build is nice and snappy even on those. But don't tell anyone <g>.
